Vasa Museum, Galärvarvsvägen 14, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden
Make your way to Stortorget, Stockholm's oldest town square, in Gamla Stan (Old Town) to meet your local guide.

Stroll the cobblestone streets and learn about Birger Jarl, the man who founded the city of Stockholm in 1250. Walk through narrow passageways and streets built for horses, not cars, on your way to check out the Storkyrkan (Coronation Church). Admire the statue of St. George and the Dragon that stands inside the brick Gothic cathedral.

Make your way to Kungliga Slottet, or the Royal Palace, to see the stately architecture and palace guards that surround the place that Stockholm's Royal family calls home.

Hop on a ferry for the short ride to Djurgården, a small island where the Vasa Museum stands. Take a guided tour that shows you the highlights of the ancient ship, sunk in the waters off Stockholm in 1628 during its maiden voyage. Explore the ship itself, watch a short film in the museum and then enjoy a coffee in the restaurant.

Finish your tour at the Vasa Museum, where you can continue exploring on your own.

Very enjoyable trip. Josh the guide was excellent very knowledgable on all aspects of the tour around the old town and the Vasa museum. The vas’s exhibition was amazing well worth the trip you could easily spend 3 hours at least there but well worth pre booking as lines on Saturday were huge! Thanks Josh we all enjoyed the day.

Caroline was an excellent tour guide. She was interesting and was very friendly. I would highly recommend this tour. I liked how the tour ended at the museum and then we could go around the museum at our own pace.

Must see tour with 5 star Kevin

We came to Stockholm on a cruise. Knowing the port isn’t far away from downtown, we booked a tour starting from downtown instead of shore excursion. From cruise port Frihamnsgatan is 15 mins taxi or Uber ride (cheaper and you avoid taxi fraud that is going on here). The walking tour covers old town and Vasa museum. Kevin was our tour guide and is pretty well traveled himself. We truly enjoyed his Scottish humor and accent (which reminded me of Outlanders series if you’ve been watching). Kevin’s stories brought buildings in old town to life and gave us his unique perspective about Swedish lifestyles (modern and old times). Then we took ferry to Vasa museum and he gave us tips about other attractions nearby for those who have some time in Stockholm afterwards. Line outside of Vasa museum was long but we had group tickets which allowed us to skip the line. Vasa museum was big but Kevin gave us highlights of the stories behind and was able to cover the big museum in a short period of time. We were given single trip transportation ticket (called SL card) to return back to old town or anywhere of our choosing. Kevin did a great job showing us how to get back. Overall, we really loved this tour and glad we came across Kevin at the end of our trip. His tour was indeed highlight of our trip

Kevin’s tour was both interesting and informative. He mixed facts with stories to make everything more memorable. I would never want to tour the Vasa without a guide and this was the perfect amount of time.

Our pleasant and personable guide knew almost nothing.

Our guide was pleasant and charismatic, and it was a beautiful day with fascinating things to see. But, I studied up on Sweden before the trip, so i knew enough to know that about a third of what she was telling us was flat out wrong. And not details, but big-picture stuff. Kings in the wrong order, when the Vikings were, knowing nothing about tension among the Nordic countries, and so forth. And the accuracy of the details was worse. Did you know that 400 men, women, and children perished in the sinking of the Vasa, just a few hundred miles from port? Well, actually it was about 30 warriors and a few young men a couple miles from port. Our guide did not not even know the bare minimum she would have known if she had troubled to watch the video presentation for the museum she was guiding us through. Still three stars because Stockholm is a lovely city and the stuff we saw was a joy to see. There is some value to just being lead to each of the highlights, even if the narration bears little connection to them. And, perhaps some of their other tour guides has a bit more familiarity with Swedish history.
