Stortorget, outside the Nobel Museum - located in the Old Town.

10:00 AM
Vasa Museum , Galärvarvsvägen 14, 115 21 Stockholm, Sweden

Tour ends at the Vasa Museum.

Make your way to Stortorget, Stockholm's oldest town square, in Gamla Stan (Old Town) to meet your local guide.

Stroll the cobblestone streets and learn about Birger Jarl, the man who founded the city of Stockholm in 1250. Walk through narrow passageways and streets built for horses, not cars, on your way to check out the Storkyrkan (Coronation Church). Admire the statue of St. George and the Dragon that stands inside the brick Gothic cathedral.

Make your way to Kungliga Slottet, or the Royal Palace, to see the stately architecture and palace guards that surround the place that Stockholm's Royal family calls home.

Hop on a ferry for the short ride to Djurgården, a small island where the Vasa Museum stands. Take a guided tour that shows you the highlights of the ancient ship, sunk in the waters off Stockholm in 1628 during its maiden voyage. Explore the ship itself, watch a short film in the museum and then enjoy a coffee in the restaurant.

Finish your tour at the Vasa Museum, where you can continue exploring on your own.

Wonderful Swedish Local Guide
Beno_A
, May 2022
Our guide was a local Swedish woman who has lived in Sweden for 30+ years. She had a lot of knowledge and was very attentive to our needs. Our group was small - about 10 total people from all over the world and our guide did a great job keeping everyone entertained and engaged. We started the tour in the old town of Stockholm and discussed the harbor stories, Viking, trade, architecture and walked around the square. We then moved on to take the ferry, which was paid for in our original booked ticket - this ferry trip was les than 10 minutes and led us straight to the Vasa Museum. Entrance into the Vasa museum was included. Overall, this tour was good - it showed some unique parts of Stockholm that you would normally miss. However, do not set your expectations too high - get ready to go through a historical adventure. Our guide did a great job to always ask if we had questions and encouraged us to ask her questions. As for walking - it was super easy for us - the pace is also slow / casual; however, you will be walking on cobble stones so make sure to take proper shoes.

We toured Gamla Stan and Vasa with Katrine on Aug 21 and enjoyed the entire day. Tour was easy to find and easy to follow with our mixed age group. Katrine provided history and answered our questions (on our first day in Stockholm) with kindness and attention. It rained but we had a lovely time :) Tack så mycket!

Our guide was very nice , and you could tell very proud of his heritage. We had a bit of a issue at the beginning of the tour . I would give a suggestion. These tours do not have a clear place or sign on where to meet your guide . We missed an hour of the tour because of this. But all ended well .

Must see tour with 5 star Kevin

We came to Stockholm on a cruise. Knowing the port isn’t far away from downtown, we booked a tour starting from downtown instead of shore excursion. From cruise port Frihamnsgatan is 15 mins taxi or Uber ride (cheaper and you avoid taxi fraud that is going on here). The walking tour covers old town and Vasa museum. Kevin was our tour guide and is pretty well traveled himself. We truly enjoyed his Scottish humor and accent (which reminded me of Outlanders series if you’ve been watching). Kevin’s stories brought buildings in old town to life and gave us his unique perspective about Swedish lifestyles (modern and old times). Then we took ferry to Vasa museum and he gave us tips about other attractions nearby for those who have some time in Stockholm afterwards. Line outside of Vasa museum was long but we had group tickets which allowed us to skip the line. Vasa museum was big but Kevin gave us highlights of the stories behind and was able to cover the big museum in a short period of time. We were given single trip transportation ticket (called SL card) to return back to old town or anywhere of our choosing. Kevin did a great job showing us how to get back. Overall, we really loved this tour and glad we came across Kevin at the end of our trip. His tour was indeed highlight of our trip

Our pleasant and personable guide knew almost nothing.
Rein T
, Jun 2019
Our guide was pleasant and charismatic, and it was a beautiful day with fascinating things to see. But, I studied up on Sweden before the trip, so i knew enough to know that about a third of what she was telling us was flat out wrong. And not details, but big-picture stuff. Kings in the wrong order, when the Vikings were, knowing nothing about tension among the Nordic countries, and so forth. And the accuracy of the details was worse. Did you know that 400 men, women, and children perished in the sinking of the Vasa, just a few hundred miles from port? Well, actually it was about 30 warriors and a few young men a couple miles from port. Our guide did not not even know the bare minimum she would have known if she had troubled to watch the video presentation for the museum she was guiding us through. Still three stars because Stockholm is a lovely city and the stuff we saw was a joy to see. There is some value to just being lead to each of the highlights, even if the narration bears little connection to them. And, perhaps some of their other tour guides has a bit more familiarity with Swedish history.

A very good trip, Vincent our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting with a mix of history and facts about Stockholm. He was very enthusiastic about showing us his city and this made it so much more enjoyable. The Vasa Museum is a must see on your trip to this beautiful city.

Engaging and informative
Joseph_C
, May 2019
Our tour guide Kevin was terrific. He is Scottish and shared several fun and amusing stories to entertain us during the tour, while conveying many historical elements about Stockholm. It was also very helpful while visiting the Vasa Museum to have our guide lead us through the highlights. Our only negative comment is that we had the tour scheduled for the preceding day and got a text message at 6pm the evening before the scheduled tour that it was being canceled due to too few bookings and offering us to attend the following day. Fortunately we were able to reschedule and enjoy a well done tour.
