Traveler pickup is offered
Pick up normally starts at 09.00 or 09.30. For the shorter tours 3-5h 09.30 is the normal pick up time. For the longer tours, 8h:s, 09.00 is our usual pick up time for the first guests. We will be in touch two days in advance of a public tour with your final starting time, if you want to know in beforehand or want that we arrange a fixed time for you please contact us by email.
In wintertime we may due to the low light time ask if it is possible for you to do a earlier starting time (if not we do the set time of the tour) but than we contact well in advance of your date.

We offer hotel pick up at all central hotels, ports and other accommodations within 5km from Stockholm central station. If you're in old town where it is not possible to get in by car we may ask you to walk a few minutes to another location where we pick you up.

We offer pick up at all harbours but no pick up at Nynäshamn harbour (only a few ship arrive there and the harbour is 1h outside Stockholm city) but will than instead give travel directions to a meeting place in Stockholm.

If your tour departs from the cruise pier:

If your ship arrives at S165 and S167 STADSGÅRDEN: Please walk a few hundred meters away from your ship while following the BLUE/GREEN lines. Go past the fences and guards, and your guide will wait there, with a sign saying "Viking Tours" on an A4-paper.  NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in STADSGÅRDEN than S165 or S167 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour.

If your ship arrives at F638 FRIHAMNEN: Upon debarking the ship, please go through the terminal building. Once you go past the sliding doors (everyone else that departs the ship will walk out this way), the guide will meet you just outside the sliding doors. The guide will be holding an A4-paper saying "Viking Tours". NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in FRIHAMNEN than F638 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour.

If your ship arrives at V523 VÄRTAHAMNEN: Walk from your ship towards the tourist buses, which is less than 10 meters from the ship hull. The guide will wait for you at the tourist bus area, near the buses, with an A4-paper, which says "Viking Tours." The guide will then direct you to the tour vehicle. NOTE: If you enter any other harbour number in VÄRTAHAMNEN than V523 please go outside the fences and guards and the guide will meet you there on the time of the tour.

If your Ship Arrives at NYNÄSHAMN: NO PICK UP INCLUDED HERE. That due to it being 50km away from Stockholm central station. We recomend you to contact and with us decide a meeting place in Central Stockholm. We will give directions how to go there either by train or that take one of the cruise busses going from the harbour into Stockholm.

If you are unsure of which pier your ship is arriving at, please check with the cruise line.

Ports

  • Frihamnen
  • Värtahamnen
  • Stadsgården
  • NO PICK UP IN Nynäshamn Harbour (meeting directions to meeting point will be given)

Departure Time

9:00 AM
Find your way to Stockholm's Central Station to meet your guide and group, then climb aboard and travel into the surrounding countryside.

At the Viking parliament, imagine the powerful leaders making important decisions on that very spot. Cross the 495-foot (150-meter) Jarlabanke's bridge, built by the powerful Viking leader centuries ago. Listen to a message written on a rune stone that flanks the bridge in Old Norse. At Broby, a Viking graveyard, learn about the only identified Viking woman's skeleton in Sweden, well-known as Estrid.

Stop for lunch in Vallentuna (own expense); your guide will make some restaurant suggestions.

Then, visit Sigtuna, a historic village, where you'll follow your guide on a 60-minute walking tour. Take a break for 'fika' or coffee and a snack, then spend an hour of free time exploring the town on your own.

Return to the city for drop-off at your departure point.

Bumpy start but quickly turned into a great tour. Quentin was informative and the bus driver patient. We saw amazing pieces of history in small distances and had plenty of free time to forage about.

We had a very nice tour of Viking stuff! We loved it. The runes were amazing! The local history told to us by our guide Quinten were amazing! I would have liked to have spent an hour in Uppsala strolling! But we’ll save that for another visit.

Our guide Tobias was very informed and made the trip a pleasure. Amazing rune stones and he provided all the information on what they meant! The Uppsalla and Sigtuna areas were very interesting and played key roles in Sweden's development - the Cathedral was magnificent as were the ruins of the old church in Sigtuna. A trip well worth taking

Education in the cow pasture

The first stop was literally in a cow pasture where There were three runes which Nadia used to begin our education on Viking culture. Each stop was enlightening and while Sagtuna was great for its history and quaintness Uppsala was wonderful for its cathedral and mounds. Very enjoyable.

Highlight of our trip to Stockholm

Our full-day tour with Angus was 10/10 the best thing we did on our trip out to Stockholm. We were greeted promptly from our hotel and taken out into the countryside with just one other party of two in our group. With such a small party, everyone was free to ask as many questions as possible and all the driving was quite comfortable! The tour was highly informative and Angus was an excellent tour guide - listening to his explanations, you get the sense that he has a deep love for the Viking history and mythology of the region! Also - if you have the opportunity and are super into Vikings, be sure to heed his recommendation to visit Aifur - a fun, rowdy Viking themed pub with some of the best food we had on the trip! If you're visiting Stockholm - be sure to take this tour!!

I really enjoyed this tour! Very interesting and informative. Angus, our tour guide, is very knowledgeable about the Viking history and he's also cool and witty! For me, Angus is the best tour guide I've met so far! Jonathan, who assisted Angus in the beginning of the tour is also good and cool! Special thanks also so Anna-Cari who was our tour guide in the Viking Village. And of course, I will not forget the most famous among them all -- Agnes the Viking Dog! : If you like history and you are interested about the Vikings, I really recommend this tour!

Angus was our guide for this tour, which ended up being a private 5 hour tour, due to lack of bookings. He was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Angus was assisted by another member of his team who was also a pleasure to meet and learn from. We enjoyed every minute of our time with Angus, even in the pouring rain. Congratulations on providing an excellent experience for us. Thanks.

There were six of us, stuffed into a Ford Galaxy with our driver/guide, Angus. Very uncomfortable for a full day tour, with lots of stops and getting in and out of the car. Angus did not seem very enthusiastic about the tour, almost bored. He went through the motions of telling us where we were and what we were seeing but the two local guides, one at the farmhouse where the burial mounds were, and Jonathan who was at the last couple of rune stone sites, were much, much better guides and were interesting. Sigtuna was a disappointment, especially after Old Town in Stockholm itself, and a lot of time was spent looking at and driving to find rune stones. This would have been better as a half-day tour.

This was a history tour with great facts and details to back up sites viewed. Our guide made seaming ordinary rock decorations and village reconstruction sites from 1,000 years ago come alive. How the Viking age of warriors started and ended was vividly described.
