Returns to original departure point
After pickup at a central location in Palm Desert, enjoy a scenic drive through the Coachella Valley, until you reach your starting point.

Your guide explains the ecology of this desert environment and takes you to see an underground creek that has been forced up to the surface by the fault lines, creating a green oasis that supports a range of plant and animal life.

Then go to a recreated Native American site that illustrates how the native Cahuilla people managed to live in this harsh climate. See homes, a sweat lodge, and artifacts, and hear details about the survival skills needed for living in the desert.

Next up, get a close look at the San Andreas fault on an easy walk into a slot canyon. Your guide shows you arreas of the rock that reveal the region's unique geology and discusses the impact of the collision of the Pacific and North American plates.

At the end of your tour, your guide returns you to the original departure point.

Our tour guide, Bonnie, was great! She was very knowledgeable and pleasant with a wonderful sense of humor. We loved the little hikes - slot canyon was our favorite, but all were great. We did this with our adult children and granddaughter - highly recommend it!
Well worth the Money, Time, and Effort!!!

The Tour Guide, Lanny, was able to re-creater how life must have been back when the original band of Indians lived throughout this area, with all his knowledge and stories. This is a Must Do Again Adventure!!! The ride was easy on my lower back, I have back problems. I took a cushion, just in case, but I didn't need it.
No good experience

I'm so sorry to hear that your San Andreas Fault Jeep Tour failed to meet your expectations. Would you be willing to speak to me directly so I can better understand what went wrong? There isn't enough information in your review to determine when you went out or with whom. But I am surprised by your comment that your tour didn't have anything to do with the San Andreas Fault. Our tour takes you deep into the center of the San Andreas Zone on our private Metate Ranch where you travel through narrow, winding canyons that have been thrust up by earthquake activity and carved by wind, water, and time. Our guide should have told you all about the geology of the area, talked about earthquakes, seismology, and plate tectonics. You should also have learned about the plants and animals that live and grow in the California desert in general, as well as those found in the fault zone. You should have visited a natural palm oasis and learned how and why these Palm oases form along the San Andreas Fault. Finally, you should have learned a little about the Cahuilla Indians and how and why they survived and thrived in this inhospitable environment. The San Andreas Fault is the theme that ties all these stories together. So I would like to understand how we failed to provide a memorable San Andreas Fault experience on your trip.
