Departure Point

Empire State Building, 20 West 34th Street, New York City, NY 10001
Make your own way to the Empire State Library in central NYC, bearing in mind the opening hours of 12:00pm-12:00am, every day of the year. The last elevator to the top runs at 11:15pm.

On arrival, head inside via the Observatory Entrance at 20 West 34th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. Pause here to take in the stunning Lobby, which boasts restored art deco ceiling murals and one of the most famous images of the building above the front desk. Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the building to add to your experience.

At the entrance to the 2nd floor, pass through a security checkpoint, and explore the interactive exhibits that tell the story of the ESB's construction to its place in today's pop culture. Watch short film clips through telescopes, use the touch screens, and step into a simulation of an original elevator for a virtual ride to the building's 102nd floor. Then, head to the surround-sound theater to see film and TV clips that feature this iconic tower.

Next, ride the elevator to the redesigned 80th floor, where you'll find exhibitions on the ESB's lights and light shows; together with stunning augmented reality experiences delivered by classic binocular viewfinders.

The final elevator ride whisks you up to the 86th-floor Main Deck: home to the highest open-air observatory in New York, and located right in the heart of Manhattan. Enjoy the 360-degree views of New York and beyond—Central Park, the Hudson River, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and so much more.

Upgrade to the VIP Express Experience and skip the security, ticket, and elevator lines. This is the quickest way to the top of the Empire State Building, saving you valuable time for the rest of your New York experiences. The VIP pass is especially helpful during holidays and peak season. An audio tour is included, and all audio, signage and exhibits are available in 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin.

Great, but skip the line not necessary

The Empire State Building was so cool! The small museum at the start was great. The price for “skip the line” wasn’t necessary for us so it felt a little overpriced but we had a good time regardless. To go to the very top is an additional $33 per person, available at the ESB ticket terminals.

Disappointed I paid for the express and wasted a great deal of money. No lines nothing. People paid way less than I did and got same thing I paid extra for. Been to empire many times. Views always spectacular. Spent extra $ to not wait in lines that were non existent.

Lovely sunset view

We wanted to see the view at sunset, so we gave ourselves plenty of time. There were not too many people, so the skip the line pass really was not necessary at all. The view was fantastic and everyone was friendly and helpful along the way. If I could go back, I might get tickets to the 102nd floor instead of the skip the line ticket.

Wonderful Experience

Empire experience was fantastic. Paid a lot of extra money to walk through a different gate to initially go up. But no added benefit from there for the skip a line and all the money that it cost.

Empire State Building tour.

The tour is amazing. From start to finish. Before you go up stairs. The history of the building is spectacular, all of the videos and special effects are top notch. The people who work there are very friendly and courteous. The elevator trip was fun, watching the video while going up was fun and of course the view is breathtaking. Just an outstanding visit, well worth the few dollars it cost us.

Amazing experience!

The description says it takes 45 min to go through. If you breeze through it, sure, but there’s a lot to see and read in the museum which was remarkably done and again on the 80th floor. Taking it next to the 86th floor pulls it all together and the next thing you know, you’re there longer than you expected! Staff was kind and polite and we didn’t have to wait for entry at any time whether that was from the entrance or any floor. Our family which included two teens really enjoyed this historical site.
