When visiting New York, take advantage of the city's proximity to Boston and experience one of the most historical cities in the USA. Your full-day tour begins in Midtown Manhattan, where you’ll board a comfortable minivan or bus and meet your knowledgeable guide. Then, travel along the scenic Connecticut coast and through inland countryside on your approximately 4.5-hour journey to Boston.

Get a taste of Ivy League prestige with a stop in Cambridge to tour highlights of Harvard University, including Harvard Yard and the massive Widener Library. You’ll also drive by the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Cambridge College.

After crossing the Charles River into Boston, see local landmarks like Trinity Church and stretch your legs with a stroll along the 2.5-mile (4-kilometer) Freedom Trail. This commemorative path takes you to 16 sites that played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. See the locations of the Boston  Massacre and the Boston Tea Party; Faneuil Hall, and Boston Common. Along the way, your guide will share legends and facts about Boston’s historic legacy.

Midday, enjoy a bit of leisure time to explore downtown Boston on your own. For lunch, try local seafood favorites like lobster rolls or clam chowder at Quincy Market (own expense). After several hours in Boston, reboard the minivan and relax on the return drive to Manhattan, where your 13-hour tour concludes in the evening.

Boston in a nutshell
Roxy_M
, Oct 2021
Boston is such a city full of history. Our guide was so knowledgeable of Harvard University plus the American Revolution. It was a full day of great pictures. We returned 2 hours later but it was because we weren’t rushed ever. A few of our stops were closed due to the pandemic but he was quick to find other places to go including the USS Constitution. I would definitely use Empire Vacations again!

worst ever day trip No way is Empire Vacations Professional when these tour reps turned up 6.30am lets starts with Pick Up...French and Italian first to get to buses that had been parked on other side of the road 3 blocks down then English speaking folk next along with 1 German we then had to cross 4 lanes traffic to get to our bus parked down a side street. I was met by a scruffy looking woman who said im your guide in English i started to wonder what she meant then she said to me and 2 Australians to go sit back of bus i said Why the back i was told that all the front was for Italians and French tourists Trip Itself...Nightmare constant talking with a microphone by Eddie the tour guide for the French and Italian this was loud and constant muttering i timed an episode of him talking and it was 40mins non stop i said to Christine the english guide can you ask him to stop talking as its constant and loud she said he is talking all about Harvard University and she would try to speak to him however this didnt happen and my ears were ringing from his constant talking . on the way back to NY i was so glad to be getting back to my hotel the English guide started on about needing Tips and they all depend on tips this was the most talking she did on the bus {saying that she couldnt get a word in edgeways with Eddie showing off talking French X Italian} The Bus Itself... The bus had No Seatbelts the 2 Drivers for the journey didnt hav any uniform on This Trip was Tacky and Unprofessional i Booked this trip Viator like many other trips i been on and this Trip was Sub Standard it said on booking information A Professional Trip English Speaking Please forward this on to Empire Vacations

felt rushed all through tour, guide was not so informative..it was a ok tour nothing special . Guide walked fast and way ahead of group and we all needed to catch up. Quincy Market was the only highlight and we were on our own for about 2hrs or so.

Inexperienced guides
Ginna_C

Too old to be college students too young to understand what it takes to guide a group of people nor how to behave as a guide instead of a baby sitter. English not up to par for a tour guide. Often not know what the right words to choose to describe what they want to convey.

Not worth the money
Melanie_M
, Mar 2019
We enjoyed seeing the sights. However, the guide had an accent, was hard to understand, boring and repeated himself. We speak English but the other translator was translating so half the time we couldn't hear. For $169 pp, we had higher expectations. Very disappointing.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. All of our guides are carefully selected, trained and constantly monitored. Will definitely investigate. Thanks Mike Empire Team

Nice places but guide...

I got an overall impression thanks to my own knowledge beforehand. Otherwise I would be wondering all the time . There were 4 English speakers but everything was explained only to the first row of seats, pictures were shown to them etc. Also guide`s English was far from normal and very hard to understand (when heard)

Visit to Boston

In all the visit was good but the van used for transportation is not adequate for such long distances, the seats are narrow and there is no place to put your handbags/backpacks or similar.
