Departure Point

St. Paul's Chapel, 209 Broadway b/t Fulton Street & Vesey Street, New York City, NY 10007-2977
This Ground Zero walking tour begins at St Paul's Chapel, aka the Little Chapel That Stood. St Paul’s is the oldest public building in New York City that’s still actively used. This church somehow survived the falling debris from the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center despite being only one block away from the melee. It became a kind of rescue center during the aftermath of the tragedy, and the iron fence that surrounds it became a place for family members to post notices about their missing loved ones.

As the tour continues, walk to the FDNY Memorial Wall and FDNY Ten House. Hear the heroic stories about the emergency responders on that day and see the fire station at Ground Zero.

Finally, enter the National September 11 Memorial, aka the 9/11 Memorial, a tribute of remembrance and honor to the almost 3,000 people who were killed on 9/11 — at the World Trade Center site, in the plane crash near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon — as well as the six people who were killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993.

There are twin reflecting pools at the very spots where the Twin Towers once stood. Look up and see One World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower.

There is an optional upgrade to include entry into the National September 11 Museum — 110,000 square feet of exhibit space located at the heart of the World Trade Center site. The museum tells the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks are commemorated here.
Itinerary
Stop At:
St. Paul's Chapel
We will start the tour at St. Paul's Chapel, New York City’s oldest public building still in continuous use. Just one block away from the 9/11 attacks, it miraculously survived the falling building and debris. St. Paul’s Chapel served as a makeshift rescue center during the aftermath. Its iron fence became a bulletin board where family members posted notices of their missing loved ones. Today, with the mementos received from people around the world supporting New York City, the church serves as both a landmark and a tribute.

It was so so

The museum was good. It was a rainy cold day for a walk your and the covid rerouting of the entrance was too far despite minimal people

We are glad this guest liked the Museum! Sorry they thought the tour was so,so. It was a very cold, windy and rainy day the the guide did everything he could to keep them comfortable, but they asked him to hurry through the tour. The COVID restrictions made bringing groups to the memorial grounds difficult and the guests left early.

Very interesting to hear about some of the personal stories of people who lost their lives in the attacks. I didnt know more towers are scheduled to be built. The oculus was interesting. Very moving seeing some of the artifacts at the museum and the photos. Our tour guide Tony did a great job. I'm glad I went.

Our tour included the memorial and museum both of which were highlights of our trip. Our guide was distracted at times and "previews" of what we were were going to see next at times prevented having extended quality time at key spots on the tour.
