Great experience - recommended!

Great trip and good price - MUCH easier than trying to figure out public transportation from Munich. Tour guide was informative and interesting, and driver was competent and the bus was comfortable (and air conditioned! 🙌). My kids aged 11 and 14 enjoyed it and we would definitely recommend the experience.

We had a wonderful tour guide Francisca who explained everything so well and showed landmarks along the way as we travelled to both the castle. It was an amazing day and both castles are worth the visit.

Loved it! (Bring cash and an N95 mask!)

Ohhhh my gosh we LOVED this tour! The castles are absolutely gorgeous! It was also super nice to be driven by bus and have the tickets already reserved. We debated just taking the train and doing it ourselves but we are SO glad we went with the tour instead. We got a lot more historical background, we didn’t have to stress about the different transportation getting there and our tickets were already reserved. I felt SO bad for the people showing up to Neuschwabstein Castle to find out it was all sold out (it sells out quick!). The only only downside is having to bring cash. I think the original details of the trip say to bring cast but purchasing the tour through Viator doesn’t include the tickets inside of the castle. Each person needs to pay an additional $28 cash per person to cover their tickets. A lot of people didn’t realize it and had to run to an ATM to get cash. It would be so much better to just pre-pay it and add that into the tour price (instead of $60 plus bring cash for tickets, just charge $88 and have the tickets included). Other than that it was great! **Don’t forget to bring cash and a N95 mask!! They won’t let you in the castles without an N95 mask**

The castle tour was very well organised. I was impressed with the efficiency and effectiveness of how we were guided through the tour. Both the castle and the palace were fabulous and interesting too.

Excellent tour! But beware the morning meeting spot

We had a wonderful guide named Francesca (not sure I’m spelling her name correct). She did an excellent job telling us stories along the way, arranging tickets, giving us tips. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The only small frustration was trying to locate the morning meeting place. The train station Karlsplatz has many exits and they are labeled A-M. We tried exit F and fortunately ended up across the street from the meeting point. I heard another person could not locate the meeting point and missed our tour. It would help future tourists to know which exit to use.

Very well organised, Franziska was very knowledgeable and informative. I had done the tour 10 years ago, but still found the day interesting and was happy that I had recommended it to the others with whom I was travelling.

The tour was great ,some recommendations .. have cash to pay for the castle tickets .. the tour guide do not take cards . The bus doesn’t go upstairs you need to pay either 3 per person in their bus or 7.50 in the horse ride (cash also) no more buses after 5:30 or horse ride .. you have to walk down by feet !!!! None of this was clear when we bought the tickets .. food also there is not great at all .. take you own snacks if you can …

Knowledgeable Guide and Easy Pace
YCJensen_W
, May 2022
Tour guide is very knowledgeable in her guide and she shares more than just what is on the itinerary. She explains the history of Bavaria and some interesting history along the route. Be prepared for the tour to end around 8pm but overall I enjoyed the time allowance in between castles so that I can have a proper sit down lunch and walk around. Also, there is a some climbing to do, both on slope and stairs.

Overpriced

The trip was overcharged by the tour operator Grayline.. The admission fee for both the castle is 23 euros (9 for Linderhof and 14 for Neuswaschtein), however the guide charged us 30 euros..
icon Response from Host , Jun 2022
You have unfortunately written your review under the wrong company! We are not Grayline and we do not charge 30 euros for the castle entrances!

Phenomenal tour

Francesca was wonderful. She was patient with those who were late and hadn't followed clear instructions. She handled situations out of her control (heavy traffic and unclear guides at the castle.) She was knowledgeable about everything. She was generous and kind and made this an excellent experience. Our driver handled a very scary oncoming motorist in our lane with great skill. I would choose this tour again and again

Two very different but beautiful places to see. A “must do” day trip from Munich. Be aware of the “not included” costs

The young tour guide is very nice and helpful! We had a good time except the tour in Neuschwanstein was arranged near the closing hour. When finished the tour we could not find any horse carriage or shuttle to take us back to the bus parking spot. As a senior 45 minutes walk is quite a distance especially with heavy rain!

Our guide, Francesca, was very knowledgeable about the area that she provided information on as we may our way to castles Linderhof and Neuschenstein from Munich and then on the route back to Munich. We also had an excellent driver. The weather was beautiful which allowed for exploring the grounds around both castles

PERFECT LOCATIONS, PERFECT DRIVER & HOST = PERFECT TOUR!!

Mentor, of Mentor Reisen Bus Company was our SUPERB BUS DRIVER, and we were especially lucky to have MELANIE LOCHMANN as our expert tour guide! We enjoyed every minute, and Melanie even arranged a tour of Oberammergau - even though it was not officially included in the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and were even sad to say goodbye to Mentor, Melanie & all the friends we met and made on the tour. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Highly recommend this trip. The castles are amazing with incredible views throughout the trip, especially from Neuschwanstein Castle looking across the lake to the Austrian Alps. Bus was really nice. Guide was really knowledgeable. We also stopped at the town of Oberammergau which was a bonus and beautiful.
