Super fun day!
, Jul 2021
We had a great time! Our tour guide was very nice and gave us a lot of information! Just a warning in case you are hyper sensitive about Covid restrictions. Our tour guide was more comfortable with non-mask wearing which was outside our comfort zone. So he was perfectly fine with not wearing a mask in an enclosed van with at least 9 people. I asked him to wear a mask and he obliged with kindness and did it quickly no problem at all. I really appreciated that and only point out that he was easily willing to make his clients feel comfortable and it made for a very pleasant experience. However, if you are someone comfortable with speaking up then I share this so you are aware.
Bare bones and worn bike ride

Crappy van with poor A/C. Beat up bikes with squealing, barely functional brakes. Crammed 13 people from three different families into one van with marginal ac.
Downhill fun.

John was great! We had a blast. Great views and an exciting ride down. John was very informative and helpful.
Not safe. Don’t book.
, Jul 2021
Not safe. Bald tires. 2 out of 3 in my family had flat tires while riding. I witnessed at least 1 other rider trade his bike in for another one and then go back to the first one because it was better than the new one he got. We saw several other groups with much newer bikes with safer conditions. Only reason this gets 2 stars is that the guide stayed close in the van and switched the bikes out quickly when we had the flats. He was very nice. We booked this despite all the bad reviews because it was all that was available. Getting up to 26 miles and then seeing our bikes (especially compared to other groups) was just scary! This owner is putting peoples lives in danger.
Absolutely the worst
, Jul 2021
Two in our group couldn’t even ride due to the poor condition of the equipment. Out of 14 bikes, only 8 had brakes that worked. Two people who were not part of our group ended up taking a tour with another bike company once we got to the drop off point on Haleakala due to safety concerns while two in our group opted not to ride at all. No mention from the tour operator joe they are going to refund our money for that, still. Had it not been for the friendliness of the driver, I’d say this was the worst travel experience of my life.

Great experience

Great experience. Tour operator Louie was awesome. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to bike Haleakala.
Good experience at reasonable price.
, Jun 2021
Overall was good; Louis was great! The bikes and equipment could use a little upgrade or attention. A lot of squeaking and wobbles. Some handgrips were torn and could use replacement for safety.
Great scenery

The view was great. The bikes and helmets were a bit old and worn. My breaks squeaked all the way down. I would pay a little extra to have better bikes and gear.
Coast down a volcano!

Thrilling experience. Enjoyable ride to the top, good equipment, optional rain gear available. Highly recommend!
Do your Research Before Choosing this Company
, Jun 2021
We have had many tours/experiences with Viator and every single one of them has been fantastic. But.... this experience was not one I would every do again or recommend. The guide was brash and did not think twice about throwing out curse words throughout the conversation. I am not a prude and can curse myself, but would never do it in front of a customer. The van that took us up to the drop off point was dirty, smelled bad, and the air conditioning vents were completely gone. The bikes were rusty, my husbands back wheel rubbed the entire time, they really were not safe to ride. We did not ask the guide for any help with bike adjustments, but I observed him telling another guest, "If it doesn't squeak it ain't worth it" then was unable to move her seat to the proper height for her. Overall the level of service and products that this company provides is substandard. We have experienced much more professionalism with other companies.
