  • Begin in central London when you hop inside your comfortable, air-conditioned coach. Meet your friendly, local guide, and then sit back and enjoy the sights on a panoramic drive around the heart of this historical city.

See the iconic Big Ben and Houses of Parliament in Parliament Square, and snap pictures of Westminster Abbey where Prince William and Kate Middleton were married in a grand ceremony in April 2011.

Then, gaze up at Nelson’s Column in buzzing Trafalgar Square, and drive to Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Walk to the palace gates to watch the Changing of the Guard. Look on in delight as the soldiers of the Queen’s Foot Guard, clothed in red tunics and bearskin hats, exchange duties to the regal music of a military band, and learn about this centuries-old ceremony from your guide.

Next, continue by coach to a cozy London pub in Trafalgar Square. Sit down to a tasty lunch (own expense) and then pick up your tour again in the City of London. Located east of the West End, and famous for its financial institutions, this history-steeped district is home to the Bank of England and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Hop out for fast-track entry and a guided tour of St. Paul's Cathedral.

Afterward, pay a visit to the Tower of London, the medieval prison-fortress that stands on the north banks of the Thames River. Head inside to explore independently, and learn about the tower’s blood-soaked history. Founded in the 1080s by William the Conqueror, this imposing complex has served as a palace, armory, prison and execution site, and is known for its ravens and colorful Beefeater guides.

If you wish, join one of the complimentary Beefeater tours that run regularly from inside the gates. Learn about the famous events that took place here, and hear some of the mysteries that still haunt the complex.

Before your tour ends, receive a complimentary ticket for a sightseeing cruise on the Thames River, from the Tower of London to Westminster Pier.

Upgrade to include a ticket for the London Eye to be used that evening.

Loved Debra or guide, and Joe our bus driver! Combined they had over 50 years of knowledge and were super tour guides. I would do this tour again just to be with them!!! Our 2 teens (17,14) were with us and had a blast with the “...oh, this is the MI-6 building used for the bond movie” and other fun facts. She kept everyone’s attention!

We toured the Palace area and saw the changing of the horse guard. Our guide was very knowledgeable - had us in the right place at the right time. We enjoyed a walk through St. James Park and viewed Buckingham Palace We ate lunch at The Admiralty - excellent. In the afternoon we toured St. Paul's Cathedral and then The Tower of London. We finished with a boat ride on the Thames.

Guide (Trudy) was the best ever!! Great day seeing and learning the city. Wish the changing on the guard was at Buckingham other than seeing the guard exit the street. Perfect other than that.

We only had one day but this tour was absolutely perfect. Our tour guide was Trudy and she took very good care of us. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Two thumbs up for Trudy!! Tour included a Thames boat tour and admission to the London Eye. Perfect choice for anyone with a very short visit.

Our guide, Rodney and driver, Joe were terrific. It was well worth it! Time whizzed by. I live in England and commute to London 2-3 times a week for work but really now have a much better understanding of London's history and culture.

London in a Day - avoid, books Best of London
    Natalie_S
    , Feb 2020
I originally booked a tour called the Best of London; however had to modify day and this tour was not offered. The Viator representative stated London in One Day was the same thing and went to the same sites ..... while correct about the sites he FAILED to mention/point out that the order in which sites were toured are totally different which is a rather important point. Unlike Best of London, this tour did not start at tower, instead we basically spent all morning on the bus listening... and jumped out to see the Changing of the Guards. We booked bc we wanted to see the Towers and Jewels first and then Changing... all other included sites were “add ons” in our mind. Anyway, the jewels and tower are LAST with this tour and we barely had time to stand in line (no “fast pass like Best” )to see the Jewels - when we got out of the Jewels the souvenir shops were closing and we never stepped foot into any other part of the Towers (keep in mind this was a very low tourist day too) and we were simply too frustrated and tired to take the River cruise or Eye upgrade we paid for. So, for the same money avoid Evans and Evans London in A Day. Have used Viator many times in the past and this is the first poor review I have given - why not a terrible, Lesley our guide was a pleaser (once she got over us being 5 min late to the bus ) . Disappointed and feel like money and time down the drain

If not a nasty weather it was very good. More specific info on location of the bus in the morning would be helpful.
