Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour with Hoover Dam Stop, Meals and Optional Upgrades

I would have given this review 5 stars except for one major issue, the meals. We only got our free promised breakfast because we tracked down our guide when we stopped at the gas station/ subway to ask about free breakfast. Once we got the instructions a 2nd time we got in line at the subway. The subway employees seemed confused about the process. Most out fellow tourists paid for their breakfast by mistake and a lot of the others did not get breakfast because they ran out of time waiting in line. Our guide rushed us out of there back to the buss within 20 minutes or so. Once at the grand canyon we only had 3 hours or so. It was not enough time to get the free lunch and wait in line at the sky bridge. So we decided to get candy bars and chips last minute and get as many pictures and videos of the canyon as possible and then get to the bus so we didn't get left behind. Again we felt rushed by our guide an extra hour would made a difference in getting a good meal. Considering the extreme cost of this excursion, I feel a little cheated by this experience. Our guide was also considering skipping the hoover damn due to weather. I made it clear several times verbally that we wanted to go since he seemed more concerned about getting back before dark. Once at the Hoover damn we only got 30 minutes. I was fortunate to get some good shots and video of the Hoover dam before it started raining and made good use of the limited time. Word of advice, Run, sprint to the sky bridge to be the first in line off the bus.

It is hard to decide on any one aspect since the entire area is so spectacular. I will highlight eagles point since it is where I began my tour, it was jaw dropping and took my breath away. My tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. I will remember him as funny Freddie.

The Grand Canyon itself was amazing and exactly as you imagine it to be. There were no fences which made photo opportunities great! My partner and I didn’t really enjoy the tour as it just seemed to take too long to leave the hotel, too many stops on the way there and back and too much time as both view points of the Grand Canyon. Because there isn’t really anything to do there. I though there would be optional activities we could opt for once we got there as stated in the description. For us, the tour wasn’t what we wanted and wasted a lot of time in that day that we could of been doing something else.

The Grand Canyon was okay. The ride was horrible. The advertisement and the booking agent said that we would be traveling in a air conditioned tour bus with a bathroom. We were in a cramped shuffle bus with no bathroom. Hurt the legs and back.

The driver was very nice and helpful. I was glad that I took the tour instead of driving. The biggest issue was others being in time for departures. The lunch wasn’t great either.

Didn’t like having to pay an additional $40 once on tour bus. This should have been explained prior- why was it not included in payment I made when I reserved trip. So your pricing is misleading at best

Fantastic, breath-taking, awesome. The only was to describe what we saw. Just a pity the guide offered no explanation about the Grand Canyon’s formation or what to look for…and as for asking for an extra $10 to board the bus because of the fuel price hike, screamed SCAM.

Just got back from the worst tour that I have ever been on. The problems started when the bus picked us up, it was very chaotic. The bus was not labeled with grey line. The were problems and the driver was rude to people. We finally get on the bus and it was hot . It was at least 85 if not more, the bus was not air condition, it was cooler outside in the shade. Outside temp was 100 for the day. I would be okay if the bus cooled down, but it never did. The driver barely said anything during the tour, when he did we couldn’t hear him, after about the twelfth time saying “we can’t hear you”, finally talked louder but he was just mumbling. Got to breakfast , didn’t tell anyone what to do. I asked and he said I only have 5 people who get breakfast, made me go get my receipt and then said oh get in subway, rudely. Never offered anyone water. I believe we were supposed to get a water. Got to the Grand Canyon, still hot on the bus, mumbled something and ran off to get the tickets. Came back .A Lady said she should have some other ticket she should get, he basically said prove it, then another grey line lady pulled her to the side and helped her. Nothing to complain about at the Grand Canyon or the food there. Got back in a hot bus. I must mention, the driver should not be driving a bus for your company, he constantly crossed the rumble strip, even over correcting, to the point the bus started to wobble, heard a lot of seatbelts clicking . He was going to slow under the limit, I got one of those apps that tell you the speed. People were passing like crazy, even other tour buses. At one point a semi went to pass us and the bus driver drifted over into the lane the semi was and we got honked at We got to Hoover dam and he stopped and asked if anyone one really wanted to do this, it seemed like he was hoping everyone would say no. In closing, again this was the worst tour I have been on. Bus was not air conditioned, bad driver, rude driver. I asked for a partial refund because the locations were fine. It was the transportation that was bad. Partial refund was refused.

From beginning to end was a pleasant experience. Customer service was very helpful whenever I called with questions and our guide Deidra (Didi) was the best. She is a great guide, driver and knowledgeable in her field. She tried to make our ride as pleasant as possible and listened to everyone's requests. The Grand Canyon was a bucket list event come true. Me and my husband was grateful for the overall experience.

Once we actually got on the bus,finding out where to actually get on was like pulling teeth. The tour bookers aren't very knowledgeable about giving good directions,or even knowing where to go. Bus driver Big Rob awesome! He gave a lot of good info concerning what to do after we arrive at the West Rim.
