A walk on the wild side

The tour starts off in a cafe outside Copenhagen City Hall and that's the most touristy part of this tour. Felix, our tour guide showed us the gritty parts of Copenhagen that you will not see on other tours. Touching on how social service agencies, government, emergency services and police are managing the issues of drug use and homelessness. The adaptive reuse of old stockyard buildings in the meat packing district shows the juxtaposition of the differing uses coexisting. There is even a stop for a drink and a gourmet hot dog with unique but tasty toppings. The last part of the tour takes you through Christianshavns and up to the entrance of Freetown Christiania. Overall Felix was very knowledgeable and a local although he has traveled extensively and lived abroad. He has seen the neighbourhoods transition through his lifetime and offers excellent insight and a unique perspective.
