The castle was great! The boat was small and it was hard to take photos due to the plastic "windows". They said you could roll them up but it was difficult to do. The staff was very nice and had a lot of interesting tidbits about the 1000 islands.

If you haven't been to Boldt Castle within the last few years (or ever), you need to go now. The restoration work done has revived this site and brought back the glory of its original intent. Our guide on the boat ride was engaging and entertaining, although I believe only maybe a half of those stories he told were actually true :-). I plan on going back sometime for the sunset cruise, just me and the wife.

The young man narrating the trip was very personable polite and knowledgeable. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because it would have been better with more time to your the castle. I would absolutely take this tour again.

Bring a bottle of water or two and a snack or lunch. Nice tour. 1 hr boat ride to the Castle, 1.5 hours at Boldt Castle on Heart Island & 1hr back to the dock.

Tour Guide Mike and Capt Matt gave a very informative tour. They were very knowledgeable about the area and history. They gave us good tips and a little extra time at the castle. I came all the way from Long Island, NY for this tour and I felt it was worth it.

Mike even gave me the mike to tell a couple of pirate jokes. Here's one: What did the pirate say on his 80th birthday? Aye Matey! I'm eighty. LOL
