10:00 AM
Topography of Terror , Niederkirchnerstraße 8, 10963 Berlin, Germany
Immerse yourself in the final moments of World War II as you relive the gripping battles and heroic struggles that took place in Berlin to end the multiyear reign of terror of the Third Reich. History lovers are sure to enjoy this deep dive into the personalities and places that defined the final fight to end the Nazi regime.

Meet your guide outside Friedrichstrasse train station, on the square beside the 'Traenenpalast' (Palace of Tears), continuing on an exploration of a series of key locations from the years of the Third Reich and the final Battle of Berlin in 1945. Visit the headquarters of the Luftwaffe, Germany’s feared air force, which coordinated the Battle of Britain, and check out the Ministry of Propaganda, where Joseph Goebbels composed many of his most infamous speeches.

Retrace the route of the final Soviet assault on the city, eventually reaching the Reichstag. Then visit the Soviet War Memorial, where many of the army’s soldiers are buried. You’ll also stop at the home of Hitler’s New Reich Chancellery, the headquarters of the Nazi government, and view the location of Hitler’s former bunker, along with his last days and suicide there in April 1945.

As you walk, you’ll also hear about the resistance movement that opposed Nazi rule, including the group’s leaders, Henning von Tresckow, Hans Oster and Clause von Stauffenberg. This will offer a convenient opportunity for your guide to share insights into daily life for citizens under the Nazis, and talk about the group’s dramatic rise to power. This includes details of Hitler’s Lebensraum policy, a doctrine which contributed to the Holocaust, and created the militaristic philosophy that led to the war.

We won’t be coming again
Itche_E

The group had too many people and the walking distance was extremely long for elderly. If you are above 75 you won’t be able to walk this. Although our guide, Tom, was great, it was very frustrating to hear that we would have to walk 6 km, it wasn’t said online that we would have to walk such a distance. I’m writing on behalf of my grandpa and I wanted to share the experience we had.

Dear Itche_E, Thank you for reviewing our Third Reich Berlin Walking tour. Thank you also for your compliment of our guide's guiding skills. We offer this tour to all ages and we guess that over 95% of them would be under 75 yrs of age, and well fit for the tour. We have also had many guests over 75 who have taken the tour with no issues. This tour is designed to give the narrative to the most fateful 12 years in the modern era while visiting all the iconic Nazi sites in Berlin's center, and so it is necessary to get around to achieve that. We are sorry that this walking tour was not a good fit for your grandpa. Kind regards, Gerard

I got lost on public transit and missed the departure; there was no way to catch up & re-join.

The tour documentation doesn't provide adequate information. Some emails mention the day but not the departure time. Others don't specify departure point. None of the information provides for the eventuality of missing the departure time and wanting to catch up and rejoin the tour further along. No one at the departure point, no signs, nothing in the documentation. Phone was not answered.

We had a great 3 hour tour with Maria. Maria was a wealth of knowledge and it was a fantastic tour. It was a pleasure to listen to someone who is very kind and also passionate. Thank you Maria for a memorable tour. Tip: masks still need for transport in Germany. Make sure you have mask and the travel pass as it avoids delays to tour starting.

Rob was an excellent guide. His command of the subject matter was exceptional, probably because he is a history major. We all felt like we were talking a master class in Nazi history, except one that came alive.
