Babelsberg Film Park (Filmpark Babelsberg) Tours and Activities

Babelsberg Film Park (Filmpark Babelsberg)
Step inside the world of cinema and TV at the Babelsberg Film Park, and discover what goes on behind the scenes at one of Europe’s most prolific film studios. With 4D movies, stunt shows, and real movie sets to explore, the theme park is action-packed and suitable for the whole family.

The Basics
The Babelsberg Film Park is a popular choice for a day trip from Berlin. Visitors can explore several movie sets, including the original outdoor set for the popular soap opera Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten; admire props and costumes from movies; watch 4D and XD short films; attend a number of stunt shows; and enjoy attractions such as a submarine, a haunted house, and a boat trip in “Panama,” setting of one of the most famous works by popular children’s author Janosch. Many visitors combine a morning or afternoon at the park with a tour of Potsdam’s UNESCO-listed palaces. Discounted entrance is available with the Berlin Welcome Card.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Babelsberg Film Park is a popular destination for families and most suitable for children from 4 to 14 years.
  • Plan around five hours to explore the park, although it’s quite possible to spend the entire day.
  • Entrance fees include all attractions and shows; a few rides and activities cost extra. Family tickets are available, and children under 4 are free.
  • The park has a selection of restaurants, cafés, and gift shops.
  • Most of the shows are in German only, but it is not necessary to speak German to enjoy the action. Audio guides are available in multiple languages including English.

How to Get There
The Babelsberg Film Park is located in Potsdam, around 4 miles (7 kilometers) southeast of the historic center. To reach the park from Berlin, take the S-Bahn to Babelsberg, then take bus 601 or 690 to the park. Alternatively, hop off at the Griebnitzsee station, from which it’s about a 20-minute walk. Paid parking is also available on-site.

When to Get There

The Babelsberg Film Park is open from April to October, but opening times vary throughout the year, and it’s often closed on Mondays in low season. It’s worth timing your visit for one or all of the live shows, each of which is held once daily, typically starting from 11am.

Live-Action Shows at the Babelsberg Film Park
The film park hosts four different live shows, all of which are held daily. Most spectacular is the stunt show, performed by professional stunt actors and featuring high-speed car chases, explosions, fire stunts and jumps, and fight scenes. Other shows include a Western-themed stunt show, a presentation of animal training for film, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a TV show.
