Stonehenge

Junction of A303 and A344/360, England

The Basics

Entrance to Stonehenge is via timed ticket. You’ll be able to view the stones from a few meters away, and shuttle transportation between the observation areas is included with entry. Access to the stones is limited to 30 minutes, but you can spend as long as you like exploring the site’s visitor center. If you want to visit the Inner Circle and walk among the stones, you’ll need to book a special tour outside of public opening hours. Day tours from London are often combined with nearby attractions such as Oxford, Windsor Castle, Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or the Cotswolds.

Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath Trip from London
Viewing Stonehenge, the 5000 year old monument on the Salisbury Plains and seeing Windsor Palace in all of its beauty. What an amazing experience! Sadly, we weren’t able to see the Roman Baths because of our late arrival to the site and the COVID restrictions still in place. The day was very informative, Carol has deep knowledge of all locations and the areas we drove by. Andre was a fantastic driver too!

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
Absolutely loved this tour. Very personable and helpful guides. Gave information about the areas we were traveling through as we traveled to add interest to the trip. Went out of their way to make it a great experience and let us know what to expect. The bus was very comfortable and clean. Bath and Stonehenge were both really amazing and interesting. Could not have asked for a better time.

Stonehenge Private Tour - Half-Day Tour from Bath
So glad we selected Daniel for this private Stonehenge tour! He has a highly engaging and often funny communication style, and his own enthusiasm about all that’s been learned about it, really brought it to life for us. We would definitely recommend him to anyone interested In Stonehenge and, for that matter, any tours in and around Bath.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
Derek was a great guide for the day. Really enjoyed the commentary about about places we were going passed ect. Could of done with a bit more time in bath and less in stonehenge but other than that it was a good day out. Thanks to Ade as well!

Half-Day Small-Group Tour to Stonehenge from Bath
It was an excellent trip. The driver gave us a lot of useful information before, during and after the trip, but did not overload us with too much talk. The time spent at Stonehenge was just right. A memorable and most enjoyable afternoon.

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Oxford Day Trip from London
This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Rowan and our driver, Moe, were exemplary. We learned and saw so much on this tour. It was well worth the cost. We’re also grateful they dropped us off near our underground station since we had done a fair amount of walking in this tour. We highly recommend going to Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath. We did the Bath Tour but in hindsight aren't sure it was worth the extra 19 pounds.

Stonehenge and Bath City Tour - Private tour from Bath
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Dan. He is extremely knowledgeable, detail-oriented, friendly, and entertaining. We learned so much about Stonehenge and Bath during our time with him. He is incredibly well-prepared with additional information and references to ensure that the tour is informative and entertaining. We also really appreciated all of his restaurant and activity recommendations for our time in Bath. We will definitely be booking with him again when we return to Bath.

Very good trip to Stonehenge in minibus with small group. Our driver pointed out places of interest and some history on the way. We had 2 hours there which was about right to see the stones and the visitor centre was very informative too. Would recommend.

Stonehenge and Bath Day Tour from London
Enjoyed the whole trip, especially Bruce (Guide) who kept us updated on the trip details and engaged us with his wonderful commentary on all the historic information. Really recommend this trip, who would love to cover three places (Windsor, Stonehenge & Bath) in a day with a great commentary.

When to Get There

Stonehenge is open all year round, but the most atmospheric time to visit is during the summer or winter solstice, when a huge party celebrates the longest and shortest days of the year, and entrance is free. Although visits are timed, it can get crowded in summer, so arrive early or opt for a sunrise or sunset tour to experience the landmark at its most photogenic.
