The Basics

Auschwitz-Birkenau is comprised of Auschwitz I—the site of a visitor center, museum exhibitions, artifacts, and multimedia displays—and Birkenau (or Auschwitz II), left almost exactly as it was when the Nazis abandoned it at the end of the war, complete with gas chamber ruins. Group and private tours with round-trip transportation from Krakow Old Town typically cover both sites and are available in several languages. A visit to Auschwitz can also be combined with the nearby Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Informative, Thoughtful and Moving
Our tour guide in Auschwitz brought light to a very dark situation. She was clear and concise, while also being sympathetic.

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Live-Guided tour with transportation and hotel pickup
Although they dont know which tour guide you're gonna get, ours was a very passionate respectful local woman with more than 20 years of experience. She was definitely the best part of the tour. Also our driver Marcel was really nice and the transportation service was excellent. The vehicle was super clean and everything ran on time.

Day Trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine from Krakow including Lunch
Auschwitz-Birkenau. Sobering but well worth the time and effort (lots of walking). Wieliczka Salt Mine. Very interesting but again a lot of walking. Would recommend both, but maybe on separate days. Doing both in one day results in a long day.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Guided Tour by Private Transport from Krakow
We had an amazing guide called Christopher who brought both the camps to life and recounted the stories of the people in the camps with such feeling and sensitivity. He looked after everyone and helped us all understand how horrific Auschwitz and BIrkenau was.

Auschwitz & Birkenau: Live-Guided tour with transportation and hotel pickup
My four stars if for the tour guide who was very good. The driver was not great, didn't really speak English, was very late (we were waiting at meeting point for 40 minutes) there was no communication about what was happening so everyone was very confused when we arrived. The tour itself was very interesting and informative.

Auschwitz-Birkenau and Wieliczka Salt Mine guided ONE DAY TOUR
Our driver Christopher was punctual and very friendly. It is a very long day but it's an experience not to be missed. Salt mines are fun and the Auschwitz-Birkenau experience is quite hurtful but it's something to be seen so we don't forget. Krakow beautiful city, I would love to return!
